What is a porcelain crown?

A porcelain crown operates as a cap that is placed over a damaged or decayed tooth to restore the tooth’s function and appearance.

Why would I need a porcelain crown?

Porcelain crowns are ideal restorations for teeth damaged by decay or trauma or just weakened by a very large filling.  Other reasons you may need or want a porcelain crown include:

  • If you have discolored fillings and want to improve the appearance of your teeth
  • To help hold a denture or bridge in place
  • If you have a root filling which needs a crown to protect it

Will it hurt?

No.  The placement and fitting of a porcelain crown is a relatively simple procedure, and Dr. Krasowski will ensure that your experience is comfortable and pain-free.  Dr. Krasowski will thoroughly numb the crown area and, if necessary, provide you with the option of having your crown procedure performed under conscious oral sedation.

What are the benefits of porcelain crowns?

Porcelain crowns restore strength to damaged teeth and create a natural, aesthetically pleasing smile.

Will the porcelain crown be noticeable?

No.  Dr. Krasowski will make the porcelain crown to match the rest of your teeth in size, shape, color and translucency.
