In-office whitening

 

We call this one-hour procedure ‘power whitening’ because the results are astounding and can be compared to results typically achieved in about two weeks of home treatment. At Krasowski Dental, we use the BriteSmilewhitening system, which uses a thick-consistency bleaching gel. For BriteSmile to be completely effective, you should undergo professional tooth cleaning before attempting to whiten your teeth. This ensures that any surface stains and tartar are removed from your teeth and that the whitening product works to its full capacity.

 

During the in-office tooth whitening procedure:

 

• Your pre-whitening tooth color is recorded for later comparison
• A latex shield is placed over your gums, with holes punched through for your teeth, to protect your gums from the bleaching agent
• Dr. Krasowski applies the tooth whitener, just as you would apply nail polish
• To speed the whitening process, high-intensity light is directed at the bleach on your teeth
• The whitener is left on your teeth for approximately 20 minutes and is then rinsed off. This is repeated twice more, with the gel left on for 20 minutes each time.
• You leave our office with a brighter, whiter, more beautiful smile

 

At-home whitening

 

If cost is a main factor in your choice, or if you prefer to whiten your teeth gradually at home, our safe, comfortable and customized at-home whitening kit may be your best option.

 

Before you begin the home whitening program, you will need to visit Dr. Krasowski for a general dental examination. During this exam Dr. Krasowski will:

 

• Ensure your teeth are in good health
• Document the current color of your teeth
• Create an impression of your teeth which is used to create your customized  tray

 

A few days after your general examination, you can return to our office to pick-up your custom tray and receive all tooth-whitening instructions. At this appointment Dr. Krasowski will:

 

• Show you how to dispense the bleaching agent into your tray
• Make sure you can fit the tray into your mouth properly
• Give you instructions on when and how long to wear the trays
• Answer any other questions you may have

 

Once at home, you wear the trays for the recommended amount of time each day (Dr. Krasowski will recommend how long: usually two half-hours or one hour). You should see results after about two-weeks, but might see even more dramatic results after four to eight weeks.
