Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic bonded to your tooth. By itself, porcelain is naturally delicate, but once it’s firmly attached to your tooth, it becomes amazingly solid and sturdy.

Preliminary visit

With Dr. Krasowski, the porcelain veneer bonding procedure is quick and easy. You will first come into our office for an initial consultation, where you can ask any questions you may have. During this visit you can also make use of our cosmetic imaging equipment, which allows Dr. Krasowski to take your picture, then show you on a computer how your face will be enhanced by porcelain veneers. X-rays of your teeth may also be taken at this time, and you may have a general dental examination to ensure your teeth and gums are healthy.

 

Veneers first visit

 

Dr. Krasowski will do the first phase of the procedure. He will:

 

• Give you a local anesthetic (Novocain)
• Slightly file back the enamel on the tooth receiving the veneer, to make room for it
• Take an impression of your tooth, which in the dental lab will use to make a porcelain veneer that is the exact right shape and size for your tooth

 

Veneers second visit

 

Once your veneer is made, (about two weeks), you will return to our office to have the veneer bonded to your tooth:

 

• Dr. Krasowski cleans and polishes the veneer and your natural tooth
• He slightly roughens the surface of your tooth with an etching gel, to maximize the connection between tooth surface and veneer
• He places dental bonding inside the veneer and places the veneer on your tooth, adjusting it carefully to line up correctly with the tooth’s edges and neighboring teeth
• He uses a special curing light to harden the bonding, fixing the veneer very strongly to the tooth, so that now it is part of the tooth, giving it a new front surface, shape, and color

 

You will feel no pain at any point in this procedure, and in just these two visits, will have a beautiful new smile. We ask that you return to our office a few weeks later for a follow-up appointment, to ensure the cement has bonded correctly and that you are getting used to your great new smile.
